-English version will follow-

Faire face à la justice, mieux informé!

Jeudi, 23 novembre 2017
13h00 à 15h30
Lieu : 2533 rue du Centre, bureau 101 (Services juridiques communautaires)

2533 Centre St., office 101 (Community Legal Services)

This workshop will be in French, Whispered translation will be provided

How to navigate the Criminal Justice system?

Does every arrest or detention end with criminal charges? If you face criminal charges, will you automatically have a criminal record?

Absolution, community work, probation, sentence served in the community, fines: what do these terms mean?

Plead guilty or go through a trial? What to do and how to make an informed decision?
What are the issues that should be considered before pleading guilty?

Whether it’s because you’re curious, you want to learn more about the legal system, for yourself or because you’re supporting a loved one; it’s always great to learn new things!

—- English will follow —-

Municipal Taxes and Property Assessment

Thursday, February 23rd 2017 from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
2356 Centre St. (Carrefour d’éducation populaire)

In the past few years, the buildings in our neighbourhood have been subjected to speculation which entails a substantial increase of the value of lands and buildings. This situation also affects housing coops and non-profit organizations. We know that these tax increases inevitably lead to rent hikes.

From the perspective of keeping housing accessible, the Community Legal Services are organizing a workshop on how to contest your new municipal evaluation (assessment).

Come and learn about the creation process of property assessment, the methods utilized to evaluate buildings and how to challenge them. You will be better equipped to make the best decisions for your organization.

With Pierre-René Perrin, property assessment expert.

This is a free activity
Information & registrations: 514-933-8432

The presentation will be held in French. Questions and remarks in English are welcome!

This workshop is part of Action-Gardien’s campaign « Espaces en voie de disparition »
