What does it mean to be a Black woman in the Law?
Come join the Black Law Students’ Association of McGill as we explore this question from multiple lenses. We will analyze the relationship of Women of Colour in our legal system from the ground up and dissect the stereotypic portrayals of ‘Black women in the Law’ in the media, with a specific focus on some of your favorites – Olivia Pope, Annalise Keating and Jessica Pearson!
What are the narratives in place that currently define Black women in the Law and how do they differ from the lived experiences, both past and present, of young Black female [prospective] lawyers? Hear first hand from our wonderful, successful panelists, featuring Rachel Zellars, JD and several stellar Black female students and alumni from McGill Law, including: Alyssa Clutterbuck, Lillian Boctor, Stephanie Jules, Amanda Wurah and Samanthea Samuels.
Come join us as we debunk stereotypes of Black female success and engage in fruitful and critical discussion about the barriers faced and feats accomplished by Black women in the law!
