Justice for tenants

March 14th 2019 from 5pm until 7 pm.
at the Centre Lorne (2390 de Ryde street)
Supper will be served at 5pm
The presentation will be in French, simultaneous translation in English will be provided.

At the present time, there are many obstacles to access to justice for tenants: fees to open a file, lack of offices in many regions, difficult procedures and lack of assistance by judges, long delays, impossibility to defend oneself when the issue is non-payment of rent, etc.

An important reform of the tribunal needs to take place. The RCLALQ (Coalition of Housing Committees and Tenant Associations) is demanding a just and accessible Rental Board. Come learn more about the campaign Justice for Tenants: let’s reform the Rental Board.

Another threat for tenants: the conversion of apartments into condos. At this event, we’ll unveil the results of the CURE-Concordia research on the mechanisms being used to convert housing into condos and possible ways to stop the loss of rental housing.

With Maxime Roy Allard from RCLALQ and Me Manuel Johnson from the Community Legal Services
